At an early age he was introduced to computers and software by his father and the love of technology acted as an impetus to understand the impact of the digital revolution in regards to children and education.
His interest in education was peaked during his study at MSPP, especially as the direct result of his Capstone Research Project, Gamification: The Educational Benefits of Video Games in the Development of Cognitive, Social and Emotional Skills. His research led him to establish a start-up company, Sphinx PsyMedia. The purpose is to provide a platform to address the educational benefits of all media for busy parents, by the review of mobile apps geared to children, but with a Psychological basis centered on empirical studies in an easy digitized format.
Brett’s life long enjoyment of video games and pursuit of education has led him to value the emerging field of edutainment with a focus on the benefits of gamification, as a means of pedagogy. Embracing video games as tools that enhance the learning of both hardcore subjects and soft subjects, and their appeal to all ages and levels of children’s learning has been his focus.
Outside of his company, he enjoys intense running along the Hudson River, video photography, video game playing, reading, music, golfing, sailing, skiing and travel.
